Oscillation Viewer v0.1

This soft provides two possibilities to study the oscillations:

  1. Click on FILE and then CREATE. You choose the oscillation’s parameters: frequency, amplitude, phase constant and also C/2m (where C is the viscous damping coefficient and m the mass of the oscillating body).

You can study the graphs of the displacement y, velocity v, acceleration and also the graphs of the potential and kinematic energy and their sum, the total mechanical energy.

  2. Click on FILE and then OPEN. In the new window you choose the limits of the graphs and then press DISPLAY. You must have a file with experimental data - accelerations values. You can use an accelerometer like USB Accelerometer Model X6-2.

You can observe the phase shift between the displacement, velocity and acceleration.

You can verify the law of Conservation of Mechanical Energy.

You can verify the dependence between the period T of the motion and the mass m of the oscillating body if the spring constant k is the same.
